S.I.G.H.T. Mystery Nights

July 2009

Akron Civic Theater

So much happened at the Civic Theater! It's hard to know where to start!

We had a great turnout. 70 investigators showed up. Ken Summers gave us a brief history and haunted history of the theater. He told us of at least three known ghosts that haunt the place. Laura Lyn spoke next. She announced that she had picked up on three ghosts being there that night. She also had seen an orb in the basement. She told us how to pick up on ghostly energies and how to know if they are trying to communicate. She also pointed out the difference between ghosts and spirits. Louis Charles spoke on ghosts and spirit rescue.  Laura Lyn led us on short tour of the theater, pointing out the hot spots and then the lights were turned out and everyone was free to do their own investigating. Some interesting things happened. I want to go through my pictures ( I know I have one good one of a blue orb)  and I'll add more tomorrow. If you have pictures of anything unusual, please send them to me at becca7775@yahoo.com and I'll get some of them up on our web site. I'll be back tomorrow to continue.

The Barber Barns in Barberton

We had another successful SIGHT Mystery Night, with a turnout of 29 investigators. We headed over to Barberton to the Anna Dean Farm to tour and investigate 3 of the remaining barns. Please, those that came to the investigation, email me your photos and/or evps or tell me of any experiences you had and I will include those also. My email is becca7775@yahoo.com.

From the Barberton Herald:

SIGHT Takes a Look at the Barber Barns

SIGHT is a paranormal investigation team that serves the community by studying, investigating and understanding both the paranormal world as well as people who are affected by it.  They use traditional ghost hunting tools as well as assistance from psychics.  Led by director Chris Reed, SIGHT held their monthly Mystery Night in the barns Saturday.

Lead psychic investigator, Laura Lyn is a psychic medium.  She has a long list of achievements that make the non-believer reconsider.

Laura Lyn told investigators in the Heating House that she sensed the spirits of at least three children.  In Steve Kelleher’s Ghosts of the Magic City, he tells his own story of doors slamming shut and statues becoming animate.  Since his first story, several pictures have been taken in the barn that show mysterious faces, often in groups of three.  Several investigators ascended the steps to the third story, only to feel pushed as if something or someone did not want them there.

One investigator’s car would barely start in the parking lot.  One of our own volunteers was handing out maps to investigators when he heard “Psssst.”  Another team psychic went to the area where the noise came from and said that there were two children, a girl and a boy.  The little boy wanted our volunteer’s attention.  He got it!  The same volunteer heard a shuffling noise a little later and asked if anyone else heard it.  Laura Lyn was coming in, and though she hadn’t heard it, she went straight to the area it came from to investigate.  Later, most of the investigators left, we heard distinct footsteps on the concrete floor.  We scoured the building making sure no one had wondered in, but we were alone.

Near the Feed Barn, Laura Lyn stopped and said “There was a horrible death here.”  On our haunted barn tours, Steve Kelleher tells the story of Nellie, a woman who hanged herself and was not found for two weeks.  The building where Nellie hung is long gone, although the foundation is still behind the Feed Barn.  Laura Lyn knew right where the tragedy happened.

Investigators must now go through all of their pictures and recordings.  SIGHT often posts evidence on their website: www.sightofohio.com.  Angel Reader Laura Lyn also has a website at: www.angelreader.net.  To investigate these barns yourself, or join me on the haunted downtown tours in October, visit our website at www.heraldghosttours.com.

May 2009

May took us to Signware just up the street from Mystical Creations. The place had a number of energies, one of which belonged to a former employee, who due to a series of misfortunes, died at the shop back when it was a mechanics shop.  The place has since been remodeled and turned into the printing and sign business that is it today. Henry Knapp of Mystical Creations along with Marie, helped an energy (or ghost)  in the shop area cross into the light. Annie was able to capture an orb in the area where this energy was located. (Near the shelves down on the floor.) Meanwhile, the rest of the group were in the offices. Angel Reader Laura Lyn along with Linda Knapp of Mystical Creations led a spirit circle to communicate with any energies present.  Jimmy, the ghost of the former employee, came through. He had been keeping an eye on the shop and the owner, Rob Beretics, as well as Rob's family. He made his wishes very clear. He was happy and content and wished to stay at the shop continuing to oversee things.

April 2009

April's mystery night was a review of the 3 locations investigated. Each person recounted their experiences at the Pufferbelly Restaurant in Kent, Sister's Century House in Canal Fulton and the Kent Stage Theater in Kent. We enjoyed pizza and then held an impromptu investigation at the Signal Tree and along the Cuyahoga River located in Cascade Valley Metro Park. Along the river trail, a few of our group reported seeing shadows of Native Americans peeking at us from around the trees. We all felt a lot of energy from the area. As we made our way back out, many got the feeling that it was time to go, that the spirits there wanted us to leave.

March 2009

March's location was the Kent Stage Theater located on 175 E. Main Street in Kent, Ohio. We had a great turnout of 42 people anxious to find the things that go bump in the dark. And find them we did! Several people reported experiences from feeling dense energy to actual physical contact.

Upon first arriving, Richele Charlton, one of the owners gave us the history and background of the theater as well as filled us in on some of her experiences with the ghosts of the theater. One of the well known ghosts, is Woody, who had been the janitor at the theater.

Team Specter lead us in table tipping. Table tipping is a way of communicating with ghosts by inviting them to use the energy of those sitting around a table to move that table in answer to questions. Those participating lightly place their fingertips on the table and focus their energy on the table. Joe from Team Specter quietly encourages any present to try to move the table. Once he starts to get a response he continues to ask questions. While I was witnessing the first session, an 8 yr old boy named Don was communicating through the table. I could see the table shaking. And just in case you might wonder, the table we were using was a solid chunk of wood in the shape of a pedestal. This table probably weighted 20 pounds if not more.

Don wanted to go to the light and with Laura from SIGHT directing him, he went. His brother was waiting there for him on the other side.

The room this was held in was in the basement under the stage. I called this the creepy room because everyone entering reported a feeling of uneasiness, of not being welcome there. We were told by the owners that a man assumed to be homeless had been found dead in that room. (By the way, the homeless man refused to communicate with us.) The room was extremely cold and grew colder during the session. After Don had crossed into the light, I noticed that the room had grown much, much warmer. Witnessing a ghost cross over can be a very emotional experience for those participating.

Joe held another table tipping session that I wasn't present for and I regret it. They communicated with a ghost named Josephine who did want to go into the light but was being held here by her boyfriend, Daniel. Joe helped Josephine to the light. Josephine had been getting the table moving very strongly, but this was nothing compared to what Daniel did. Daniel was very angry that Josephine crossed over. Daniel had that heavy table levitating off the floor! Needless to say, Daniel did not want to go the light.

Earlier, upstairs in the theater, a group was talking to another young boy ghost also named Daniel. Laura helped this little boy to the light, also.

The basement under the theater contains several tunnels that are part of an underground tunnel system that runs through Kent. The tunnels are blocked off and most of the area is used for storage. Owner Tom Simpson gave us access to the tunnels.  The energy there was very dense. I heard that someone captured a shadow with their video camera. Please send that to us if you are able. We'd love to share it.

I'm anxious to hear the stories that the other investigators have to tell. Please email me your experiences and I'll add them. Email me at becca7775@yahoo.com

I'm posting pictures and stories from the investigation here.

February 2009

February's Mystery Location was the Century House Restaurant in Canal Fulton. After a very enjoyable dinner, we were given a tour of the restaurant's basement where known activity has taken place. The century old building has a colorful history as well as the surrounding area. We had a great turnout of 30+. Many in the group reported picking up some kind of energy or had some kind of paranormal experience.

Pufferbelly_Meet.JPG

Our First S.I.G.H.T. Mystery Night was a visit to the Pufferbelly Restaurant in Kent, OH

Thanks everybody for joining us!

Linda Knapp of Mystical Creations wrote this about our first successful visit:

"We had our first ghost pursuit on Saturday with a group of twelve total. Our mystery location was Pufferbelly Restaurant & Bar in Kent , Ohio. Great food and very haunted, big Thank you sent to Kevin the owner of Pufferbelly’s. He gave us a tour of the restaurant and shared some great stories with us. Sue had an orb following her around while we upstairs and Charlie (the resident ghost) tripped Ramona and she fell up a step.  Well… that story sounds better than Ramona didn’t see the step up."

"Hi SIGHT,

That was really fun last night – we will definitely try and make more of the ghost hunts!  We also have another couple who might be interested – is that alright?

Thanks again!"
